Automation Specialist PLC/HMI Designer

Hourly Rate: $51.00 - $70.00 per hour

Job Type: Full-time

 

Schedule:

  • Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week

Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Automation Specialist to join our dynamic team at Schrader Mechanical, Inc.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated systems to enhance operational efficiency and productivity. This role requires a strong understanding of various automation technologies and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems. The Automation Specialist will work closely with engineering teams to ensure that all automation processes align with industry standards and project requirements.

Responsibilities:

Under moderate supervision, responsible for writing, designing and developing programs, serves as liaison between on site management and office management and assists in troubleshooting projects and designs. Performs related work as required.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Write, design and develop HMI and PLC programs.

  • Troubleshoot, document and implement engineering electrical, automation and controls projects.

  • Troubleshoot, document and implement control system designs and design modifications.

  • Schedule or assist in the scheduling of projects.

  • Perform installation and wiring of equipment.

  • Ensure operating in compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Technical certification or college degree in Computer Science.

  • Five years’ experience in automation and control.

  • Proficient in HMI software and PLC programming, Allen Bradley preferred.

  • Experience working with PLC’s, HMI’s and VFD’s, Allen Bradley preferred.

Essential Physical Requirements:

Body Position and Movement:

  • Sit to rest on buttocks to operate the computer, write, use a telephone, and participate in meetings, etc.

  • Light lifting, under 30 lbs. 30% of 8-hour day.

  • Light carrying, under 30 lbs. 30% of 8-hour day.

  • Walk to deliver materials within the building or to access books or equipment.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • Minimal light to moderate lifting and carrying weights between 25 lbs. – 50 lbs.

  • Walk to move your entire body for some distance using heal/toe gait.

  • Bend by flexing upper trunk forward (knees extended; standing, knees flexed; sitting).

  • Turn to rotate upper trunk to right or left from neutral while sitting or standing.

  • Use the computer for data entry – press keys with fingers.

  • Operate a telephone for communication purposes while writing information/taking notes or operating a computer – reach, lift with hand, and press keys with fingers.

  • Use pens and pencils to record data – grasp by thumb and finger.

  • Use keys to unlock office and file cabinets – grasp by thumb and finger, and twist with wrist/hand.

Receptionist

$23.00 - $28.00 per hour

Job Description: Under moderate supervision, perform reception functions ensuring client needs are met in a professional and timely manner.

 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Two years’ experience in a comparable position.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, QuickBooks, and ability to learn industry software.

  • Valid drivers’ license with a driving record acceptable to the Company’s insurance carrier.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Answer telephones in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Works independently as well as part of a team on a variety of tasks and projects.

  • Transfer calls or take messages, as necessary.

  • Ensure client’s questions are answered and all calls transferred to the appropriate person(s).

  • Greet walk-in clients in a friendly and professional manner ensuring they are directed to the appropriate department.

  • Coordinate hotel, vehicle and flight reservations as needed.

  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries.

  • File all paperwork accurately and timely.

  • Create, update, and maintain the on-call calendar.

  • Create, update, and maintain maintenance schedule.

  • Create, update, and maintain time-off requests.

  • Assist with procurement of needed tools/equipment.

  • Maintain office supply inventory, order, as necessary.

  • Coordinate fleet services, including all vehicle maintenance.

  • Run errands as necessary and requested.

  • Provide administrative support to management.

  • Preparation of on-call schedule. Coordinate with managers and supervisors to ensure timely accurate scheduling availability. Monitor coverage discrepancies.

  • Process equipment rentals/returns for projects.
